1959年に実施され始めた民主改革は、チベット現代史上の大きな出来事である。それはチベットの発展と進歩にかかわり、チベットの人口の圧倒的多数を占める百万の農奴が暗黒な封建農奴制の束縛から解放され、チベット社会の主人公となることができるかどうかにかかわっている。歴史が立証しているように、チベット民主改革は広範なチベット人民の利益に合致する、人類の人権獲得史上の壮挙である。

チベット人は繰り返し中国からの独立を訴えてきた。我々チベット人は非暴力による抵抗運動を行ってきているが、チベットでは10歳にも満たない子供達が「チベットは独立国家だ」とか「ダライ・ラマ法王にご健勝あれ」とささやいただけでも、中国は『母国』を『分裂』をたくらんでいると告発し、投獄を宣告されることが多々ある。チベット国旗に似たものを所持するだけで、7年間投獄される。
日本人は中華人民共和国がどのような国かきちんと認識する必要がある。
